On March 8th, Olympia FFA members explored agricultural opportunities at the University of Illinois. The U of I Explore ACES provided students the opportunity to look into the various agricultural departments on campus. The greenhouse was a favorite amongst some of the Olympia students. Another exciting sight was the fistulated cow where Tyler Miller was brave enough to put a glove on and learn hands on! The university studies bovine nutrition through experiments. Students were able to talk to current U of I students about classes, clubs, and housing options at the university. When asked what her favorite part of the event was, Olympia senior Molly Schempp replied, “My favorite part of the day was checking out the 4-H House sorority and to be able to explore the U of I campus and the varying agricultural opportunities.” Olympia FFA Advisor, Bryce Hoffman stated, “Explore ACES offers our students an excellent opportunity to see what life on campus at a Big 10 university is all about.”
