Who We Play For

On September 11th Olympia Middle School and Olympia High School will be hosting a Who We Play For ECG heart screening event.  ECG screenings are recommended for all students, and they can detect heart issues that may be missed in standard physicals.  Studies show that annual physicals are 1% effective at identifying abnormalities that may lead to sudden cardiac arrest, while an ECG screening can increase the effectiveness to 80%-90%.  It is recommended that a child is screened at least every other year, but the Who We Play For foundation encourages that students are screened every year in the event that physical changes or increased stress on a student’s heart could lead to changes.

In order to register for the event, please click on this flyer: Who We Play For Heart Screening.  When you open the flyer, click on the link next to the word Register.   You can also click on this link for a direct link to our registration page: Register for Olympia Screening  When you arrive at the registration page, scroll down to begin the registration process.

As you are completing registration, it will ask you for payment information.  The cost for the screening is $20.  If you are experiencing financial hardship and are not able to pay for the screening, you can select “We would appreciate full financial assistance”.   This is the text that you will see as you are completing your signup.

Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta is helping to sponsor the screenings to ensure that all who want to be tested are able to be tested, regardless of financial situations. The QPFH family knows first-hand the importance of ECG screenings for our students and encourages all Olympia students to get screened.
