The Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been encouraging kids here at Olympia to share their faith and personal experiences in a safe place with fellow classmates.
With the 2019 school year coming to an end, FCA has been a huge success in keeping students engaged in games, biblical teachings and prayer with outstanding door prizes provided by OHS Dean Mr. Jones
“ My favorite part of FCA this year has been getting to know new students and seeing a group of freshmen and sophomores get more involved in FCA,” said Mr. Jones, Dean of students.
FCA has kept a solid number of attendees ranging around 50 students year round. My Freshmen year, we had FCA in Mr. Jones’s classroom, but over the year, we had to move our meetings to the OHS gym.
One thing that FCA strives to do is have a solid leadership team, and they do an amazing job. They take time out of their mornings and during lunch to meet with each other to brainstorm ideas and assign roles to make FCA a safe and fun environment.
The FCA leadership team is made up of all four OHS classes, so each class has fair input on what FCA should be and what it means to be a leader. Mr. Jones has enjoyed having leaders help him out so things run smoothly. There will be some big shoes to fill when this year's Seniors leaders leave.
“The seniors have been a great group of leaders. They have really helped develop and grow the FCA group over the past 3 years,” said Mr. Jones.
