This year’s OHS Bank Board just finished their last meeting on Thursday, April 11for this school year where they learned a lot of valuable skills.
This year’s Bank Board consisted of: Claire Mercier, Emily Burns, Grace Litwiller, Lane Miller, Leighton Rutherford, Nick O’Donnell, Kelsey Lesson, Madi Paxton, Camryn Becker, Mary Grace Cleinmark, Carley Martin, and Cloe Spracklen.
Specific programs this year’s group focused on included Marketing, Customer Service, Operations, CEO Perspectives, Loans, and Human Resources.
Most of the students on the Board are pursuing careers in business. Carley Martin and Nick O’Donnell are pursuing careers in accounting and both are studying to become Certified Public Accountants. Claire Mercier is attending USC and majoring in business management. Kelsey Lessen is pursuing a career in public education in hopes to become the Secretary of Education at some point in her life.
Bank Board is a great experience and is highly recommended if students are pursuing a career in any form of business. It provides useful knowledge for businesses and finances.
Along with the great insight on future necessary skills, the Board members are also treated to some of the best lunches Olympia students have ever laid their eyes on. Meals included homemade ham and turkey, Casey’s Pizza, fried chicken and mashed potatoes, plus a visit to the restaurant right next to the First Farmer’s State Bank.
If you are interested in banking, delicious food, and missing fourth block once a month, then Bank Board is right for you.
