Today's Activities
The Oly high school boys track team racked up 15 season-best performances at the Metamora Invite yesterday. Freshman Norman Bone had season PRs in both hurdles events, running 20.94 sec in the 110 m race and 50.51 in the 300 m race. Sophomore Brendon Hardimon chopped off time in the 100 & 200 m dash events, running 11.70 sec & 23.88 sec, respectively. Sophomore Kayden Thomas and junior Cohen Maness each added over 13 feet to their previous best in the discus with tosses of 103'5" and 94'8", respectively. CJ Moore, a junior, ran season-bests in the open 800 (2:12.01) and the JV 4x400 m relay(56.3 split). The three groups of varsity sprint relays secured season-best times in all three races with Kadyn Wilcox, Kaleb Jacobs, TJ Gellner, and Brendon Hardimon running 46.04 in the 4x100 m relay; Kadyn Wilcox, Kaleb Jacobs, Jaxin Baker, and Brendon Hardimon taking 6th place in the 4x200 m relay at 1:37.28; Kadyn Wilcox(PR-55.0 split), Kaleb Jacobs, TJ Gellner(PR-55.8 split), and Cohen Alexander taking 5th place in the 4x400 m relay at 3:40.65. Cohen Alexander, sidelined with injury since February, had his senior debut performance in the 400 m dash, where he took 5th place and ran an astonishing 52.75 sec! And finally, senior Chase Ragar went two for two running an All-time best 24.54 in the 200 m dash and jumping within inches of his season-record in the triple jump (40'3.25") to snatch 2nd place.
On Saturday, April 12th, the Olympia High School girls track team competed at the Chuck Danner co-ed Invite held at Metamora High School. Despite being short-handed due to injuries and absences, the team showed resilience with several athletes achieving personal records.
Kennadi had a standout performance in the discus, throwing a personal best of 22.76 meters. In the shot put, Abagail set a new PR with a throw of 7.8 meters. Annaston also delivered a strong performance in the long jump, hitting a personal best of 4.73 meters.
On the track, Maddison and Noelia achieved PR’s in the 100 meter dash, and Sidney notched a season best in the 1600-meter run after competing in the 3200 earlier in the meet. Emma Swartzendruber ran a great 800 and finished in 2nd, Amelia Kistner ran her first 3200 of the season and finished 4th place. Overall there were a lot of strong performances throughout the day. These girls are continuing to improve as the season progresses and it’s fun to see!

Varsity baseball wins at Cornerstone today 16-0. Hohulin(3B), LaBelle(5RBI, 2B), Gellner(3RBI, 2B) and B. Tackett(2B) with 2 hits apiece. Dabney(2B), Birky(3R, RBI), Walker(RBI) and Alford(RBI) each had a hit. B. Tackett(2.2IP, 0ER) gets the win, Wilson(1.1IP, 0ER) closed it out.

Varsity baseball gets a 6-2 conference win at New Berlin tonight. Alford, Gellner 3 hits apiece. Dabney, Birky, I. Tackett and Walker 2 hits apiece. Walker gets the win (4.1IP, 4H, 1ER, 4K's) Dabney with the save (2.2
IP, 3K's). Spartans on the road tomorrow at Cornerstone 10am.
Varsity Softball with a home victory over Morton 6-5. Gabby Frye with the victory in the circle allowing 5 runs (one earned) with 8 strikeouts and had a two-run home run in the 1st inning. Khloe Chenoweth with 2 hits/double. Morgan Huffington with 2 hits and an RBI. Lily Gordon and Kennadie Finchum with an RBI each. Brooklyn Komnick with the game winning RBI single in the bottom of the 4th inning. The Lady Spartans improve to 7-2-1 on the season. JV Softball with a home loss to Metamora.

The JV softball game scheduled for today at Normal Community and the JV baseball game scheduled at home vs. Tremont have both been cancelled. Coaches will communicate about practice.
It was a cold and windy night at Deemack High school, but that didn’t stop our girls from showing up and showing out at the first outdoor track meet of the season!
From our 3 freshman throwers Kennadi Craig, Abagail Bridgewater and Kynlee Miller competing in their first ever High school outdoor meet to Annaston Piro jumping a PR of 4.72m earning her 2nd place in long jump, a super fast 4x1 (Mya Downs, Gabby Dickhut, Madyson Bridgeforth and Charlee Durham) taking 1st place with a time of 52.1, and a well ran 1600 by Amelia Kistner taking 1st place with a time of 5:39. Several season bests were achieved in various events throughout the meet. The team kicked off the season with grit, energy, and some serious success.

Olympia Softball opens conference play with an 8-0 victory over Pleasant Plains at home. Gabby Frye with a 3-hit, 16 strikeout pitching performance to pick up her sixth win of the season. Khloe Chenoweth with 3 hits, a double and 2 RBIs. Eva Ortiz with 2 hits, a double and RBI, Lydia Rutledge with 2 hits/RBI, Morgan Huffington with 2 hits, a double and RBI, and Finley Hoffman with 2 hits/RBI. The Spartans improve to 6-2-1.
Top ranked Pleasant Plains slipped by the Spartans tonight 3-2 in 8 innings. Hohulin and Kleinschmidt with a hit apiece. Carson Birky(RBI). Alford (8IP, 2ER, 3K's). Spartans are on the road Thursday at New Berlin with a 4:30 start.
