October is Principals Month

October is National Principal Appreciation Month.  We are lucky to be blessed with great Principals at Olympia!  Below are a few questions and answers from Mrs. Rogers and Mrs. Steve.

Principal Stacey Rogers - Olympia South Elementary since 2011

Where did I go to college?  Bachelors and Master’s Degree - Illinois State University

I spend my time with…My husband Chad and my girls Emily and Haley and my dog Max :)

The best thing about working in Spartan Nation:  The people! I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside with every day.

A fun fact about me:  I love to travel, golf and read…when I have time

I became a principal because  I always wanted to be a teacher. While teaching I decided I also wanted to support teachers but never wanted to work outside of the school where the kids are.

The best thing about my job is that every day is different. The laughs, celebrations and stories every day keep me smiling!

Administrative Intern - Lisa Steve - Since 2022

Where did I go to college?  B.A. Psychology - Ashford University; M.S. Counseling - Eastern Illinois University; Completing M.S. P-12 Educational Administration - Illinois State University

I spend my time with…My husband Jake Steve and my 22 month old son Layton.

The best thing about working in Spartan Nation:  The relationships and community. The staff all come together like a family to support students and one another.

A fun fact about me:  My husband and I love to go backpacking and camping in the mountains.

I became a principal because I want to be part of creating an environment in school that students enjoy coming to everyday, that challenges students to do their best, and that staff feel supported in.

The best thing about my job:  The students!  Every student has potential to change the world for the better and it is so rewarding to watch them learn and gain confidence in their abilities.

Thank you both for all you do for the students and staff of Olympia!
