Students in Mrs. Hendricks’ and Mrs. Crebo’s English classes combined forces for a Friday Inquiry.
Students were challenged to discover the meaning of a very common word part by using their own background knowledge. Students broke into small groups and brainstormed a list of words with the prefix ‘trans’. After sharing out an impressive list, they wondered were there more? An online search, using Word Searcher, proved over 160 words have this common Latin prefix. A brief analysis of several keywords, led them to a conclusion that was right on target. Check out some of their words and see if you can figure it out without asking Google!
