Loss Doesn’t Defeat Senior Girls Basketball Team

The Olympia High School girls’ basketball team hosted the Eureka Hornets on Senior Night, Thursday February 4th The girls were defeated 51 to 27.


The girl’s varsity basketball team consists of two freshman, three sophomores, one junior, and five seniors. Freshman girls are Janelle Canopy, and Madison Tromp. Sophomores are Alissa Cross, Claire Dubree, Kamryn Van Hook, and Tania Van Hoorn.

Dani Williams plays as their lone junior supporting the five seniors. Recognized at senior night were: forward Shelby Batterton, guard Laura Canopy, guard Tiffany Martin, guard Kami Carpenter, and Center Jamie Goebel.


When asked how Senior Shelby Batterton felt and if the loss affected her, she stated, “The loss didn’t matter to me. Win or lose, we had fun that night and looked stylish while we did it and we had an awesome time this season.”


Although the Spartans suffered a tough loss, Senior Night will be a night that will not be forgotten for these five senior girls.
