The Olympia Board of Education was called to order at 6:00 p.m.
on Monday, June 15, 2009 in the Conference Room of the Olympia
Administration Office for a Strategic Planning Session to continue
reviewing and revising the District’s Vision and Values
statements.
Board members, Administrators, a select group of faculty/staff, and a Student Council member reviewed Vision statements presented at the last meeting and agreed upon one that would best reflect current learning standards of the Professional Learning Communities framework found in the book Revisiting Professional Learning Communities: New Insights for Improving Schools by DuFour, DuFour, & Eaker. The new Vision statement will go before the Board for approval at the July 13, 2009 regular scheduled Board of Education meeting. The same PLC framework was used as a guideline as participants started to review possible Value statements. A follow-up meeting will be held at a later date to review and finalize the District’s Value and Goal statements.
