The Olympia FFA hosted National FFA Week February 22nd through February 28th. The FFA kicked off the week going bowling in Minier Lanes and eating pizza. All week long the 1st block classes participated in Agricultural Trivia. The winners were Mrs. Mohr’s and Mr. Hewitt’s classes. The students also participated in dress up days all week long, Monday was Green Day, Tuesday was Carhartt Day, Wednesday was Hick Day, Thursday was Camouflage Day and Friday was Blue and Gold day.
On Tuesday the students drove their tractors to school and competed
for prizes in different areas. On Wednesday the students drove
their trucks to school and also competed for prizes. Friday during
5th block the officer team Nick Brand (President), Morgan Ott (Vice
President), Sam Yoder (Reporter), Brett Johnson (Secretary), Wade
Springer (Treasurer), Kyle Durflinger (Sentinel) and Guy Hainline
(Historian) put on an assembly for the high school. The winners
were announced and given pop, a gas card, or candy. Then six
students from each grade were picked to play a leadership game that
is played at times during FFA events.
On Saturday Olympia took two teams to Tri-Valley for a FFA
basketball tournament, both teams were out after the second round.
Later on Saturday night the officer team put on an appreciation
dinner for students, parents, faculty and staff. We had a great
turn-out and dinner was really good. We just want to say thank you
to everyone who helped make FFA week one of the best here at
Olympia and hope you had fun as well.
