Olympia High School to perform the musical “Meet Me in St. Louis”
Olympia High School presents the family-favorite Meet Me in St. Louis, on Thursday, April 20; Friday, April 21, and Saturday, April 22. All performances start at 7:00 PM; doors open at 6:30 PM. Based upon the MGM film starring Judy Garland, this show is a wholesome and delightful portrait of a turn-of-the-century American family. Alonso and Anna Smith (Matthew Althoff and Marissa Horning) have a son in Princeton (Matthew Nelson) and four beautiful daughters at home, including Rose (Kelsey Schrag), Esther (Kristen Schuette), Agnes (Emma Kindred), and Tootie (Esther Birkey). 17-year old Esther has fallen in love with the boy next door who has just moved in, John (Dylan Maris), who barely notices her at first. The family is shocked when Mr. Smith reveals that he has been transferred to a nice position in New York, which means that the family has to leave St. Louis and the St. Louis Fair. Over the course of a year, the family’s mutual respect, tempered with good-natured humor, helps them through romance, opportunity, and heartbreaks.
Musical numbers include “Meet Me in St. Louis,” “The Trolley Song,” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”
Directed by Wendy Wade, the production’s technical direction is provided by Alex Hembra and Ron Wade, with costumes by Heather Schwarting.
