The Olympia Board of Education was called to order by President Kevin Frazier for a special-called meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in the Learning Center of Olympia High School.
The purpose of this meeting was to review the current District Strategic Plan and to start the process of revising/updating it.
Superintendent Dr. Andrew Wise welcomed everyone in attendance. Those persons included board members, district administrators, teachers, education support personnel, students, parents, business leaders, and community members.
Committee members divided into groups and reviewed the current District Mission Statement including Vision, Values, & Goals statements. Through activities led by Dr. Wise, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Josh Olsen, OHS Principal Dr. Ed Jodlowski, and District Student Services Coordinator Mrs. Ginger Payne, core District values surfaced. Furthermore, the committee was able to complete a draft mission statement to guide the District for the next several years.
The Strategic Plan committee will reconvene in goal groups next month.
Dr. Wise concluded the meeting by thanking the group for their efforts.
