OMS 8th Grade Teachers Receive Grant

This is the image for the news article titled OMS 8th Grade Teachers Receive GrantOn Tuesday January 31st, representatives from Voya Financial honored OMS 8th Grade teachers Jennifer Love, Susan Schuber, Katie Ringer, Susan Springer, Brad Jacobson, and Anna Petsas with a check for $2,000 to help fund a simulation that they will be conducting later this school year to help students learn about the Great Depression.  For the past 20 years Voya Financial has been providing grants to teachers to help them fund creative projects and help teachers create activities that would be hard to fund otherwise.  The grant was written in 2016 by Susan Schuber, Jennifer Love, Megan VanGorder, Katie Ringer, and Anna Petsas and the money will help OMS 8th Grade students gain a better understanding of what citizens went through in the 1930's.  The students will learn about the collapse of the stock market, effects from the Dust Bowl, and the societal adversities that occurred during this time period.  

Congratulations to the teachers for earning the Voya Unsung Hero's award and the financial support that goes with it.
