The dairy, agronomy, and meats CDE’s were on November 30, 2016. After practicing for 3 weeks; eleven Olympia FFA members competed on Wednesday.

dairy team by judging cheese and milks, completing a multiple-choice
test, and real versus imitation judging.
agronomy team consisted of Nate Weihmer, Angelica Greenwood, and Cody
Gibson who competed by judging weeds, seeds, and soils, soybean, corn,
wheat, and oat seed, a written test and soil maps judging. Congrats to senior Nate Weihmeir who placed 10th individual!
This year’s meat judging team had 5 members, Dawson Banister, Ashley Miller, Lane Miller, Cavit Schempp, and Molly Schempp. Meats
judging involves identifying 25 cuts of beef, lamb, and pork, a
carcass, ham and loin placing classes, and yield grading of carcasses. Sophomore Molly Schempp placed 10th individual in meat judging. Sophomore Dawson Banister reflects on this CDE saying “My favorite part was getting to meet other FFA members. Because
of what I have learned from this CDE, when I sell my pigs, I now have a
greater knowledge of exactly what cuts I want from them."
