The Olympia girl’s cross-country team has qualified for the IHSA Sectional meet in Elmwood by finishing 2nd in the IHSA Regional last Saturday at Farmington. Senior
Shelby Siltman, who won the individual regional championship for the
second year in a row, led the race from start to finish. She ran 17:39 on the 2.95 mile course. The 8th ranked Spartans had Payton Wille in 10th place, Mary Grace Cleinmark in 15th place, Hannah Lawless and Renee Hallstein finished in 23rd and 24th place respectively to round out the scoring for Olympia. Rounding out the placing for Olympia were Jade Andris and Jadyn Talbert in 28th and 31st place.
Also qualifying for Sectional is Senior Kyle Rader. Kyle finished 5th in the individual standings at the Regional at Farmington, running a personal best of 15:33. Kyle ran an outstanding race and we are excited to watch him race and hopefully qualify for state this weekend at Elmwood.
The Spartans will race again on Saturday at the Maple Lane Country Club in Elmwood, Illinois. The girls race is scheduled to start at 10:30 am and Kyle’s race is at 11:30am.
The Elmwood Sectional will host the 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, and 11th ranked teams in the state of Illinois; it should be a great race. The top 5 teams, in the field of 21 schools, will qualify for the IHSA State meet at Detweiller Park in Peoria on November 5th.
