Olympia High School presents The Egg and I on Thursday, October 6, at 3:30 P.M.; Friday, October 7, at 7:00 P.M.; and Sunday, October 9, at 2:00 P.M. This family-friendly comedy by Anne Coulter Martens was based upon Betty McDonald’s best-selling novel and is produced by arrangement with Dramatic Publishing. Directed by Wendy Wade, the production’s technical direction is provided by Alex Hembra and Ron Wade, with costumes by Heather Schwarting.
Chickens?! Betty McDonald (Grace Melick) and her two teenage daughters Anne (Kristen Schuette) and Joanie (Annaliese Marsiglio) have no idea what they are in for when patriarch Bob (Dylan Maris) buys a chicken ranch and moves the family into a ramshackle old farm house in the rugged Olympic Mountains of Washington State. Challenges that Bob forgot to mention include a big loan from the bank, minimal electrical power, no telephone or cell service, no wifi, and no running water. Add in an eccentric couple next door and a curious skunk, and the girls may be headed back to Seattle on the next train.
