The 2016 Boys track team is in its final week of the season, and will have three athletes heading to the IHSA State track meet at Eastern Illinois University this Friday and Saturday.

The team finished 2nd place in the Cornbelt Conference meet this year, 2nd place in a 20-team Mahomet Invitational, 3rd place in the 15-team IHSA Sectional meet at Springfield Lanphier, and have a total win-loss record of 100-26 during the outdoor season.

The three individuals that have qualified for the Class IIA state meet are Bo Bauer, Triston Ballinger, and Levi Litwiller. Bo qualified in the discus with an all-time personal best throw of 147’ 4” that gave him a 2nd place finish at sectionals. Triston was the sectional champion in the pole vault with a height of 13’ 1”. Levi Litwiller was a double sectional champion in the hurdles events, running 40.62 seconds in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles and an all-time personal best time of 15.40 seconds in the 110 meter high hurdles. All three athletes will compete on Friday in the prelims, where they will strive to be in the top 12(for discus and pole vault) or top 9(for hurdles) in order to compete for a medal in the finals on Saturday. Best of luck to our athletes!

T.J. placed 4th with the second best throw of his high school career (148’ 3”).
