Things were squealing over at Olympia West this past week.  It was Olympia West’s annual American Heart Association’s Jump Rope for Heart Event.  For the past few weeks, students have been collecting donations for the American Heart Association.  “We have been doing this event at Olympia West since 1994”, stated Mrs. Braffet, West’s PE Teacher.  “This year we exceeded our expectations as a school.  Our goal was to collect $3500 in donations.  As of today, our grand total amount was over $5800, and we still have a few donations still coming in!”

In order for this event to succeed, students were challenged to reach their goal, and if doing so, Mr. Nordstrom, Olympia West Principal, agreed to “Kiss a Pig”.  As promised, Mr. Nordstrom was presented with “Butterscotch”, a 4 week old male pig, courtesy of Gottschalk Farms.  The top 6 donation collectors then had the opportunity to pick an Olympia West staff member to “kiss the pig”.  Our top collector was, Emma S,, along with Abby L., Olivia C., Chloe N., Owen & Summer B.

We like to thank all the students at Olympia West who brought in the donations for the American Heart Association!
