A Student's Account of Pushing and Pulling by Liberty and Emma
Posted on 02/01/2016
We made a pyramid out of toothpicks and marshmallows. We used 30
marshmallows and over 35 toothpicks. We had three levels of pyramids.
The base squares area not all the same size and the bottom layer is 3x3
square. We have a marshmallow in the middle that helps support all the
weight. A 4-sided pyramid has a square base and triangles covering all
four sides. It also has part of a truss bridge in it. Squares collapse
easily under compression. We learned pushes and pulls are all around us.
Triangles are the strongest shape so we used a lot of them. We hope you
like our design.
