Olympia High School Speech Brings Home First from Belleville West

This is the image for the news article titled Olympia High School Speech Brings Home First from Belleville WestCongratulations to the OHS Speech Team for their excellent results from the 25 team Belleville West tournament.  With limited entries, Olympia finished 1st in the small entry division. Overall the team was 7th with only 13 students competing for Olympia. The team had 14 finalists and four Varsity champions.  Collin Schopp was 1st in Impromptu Speaking, Ethan Schopp was 1st in Humorous Interp, and David Bell was 1st in both Special Occasion Speaking and Declamation.  Congratulations to all these individuals and the team as well!  Other varsity finalists included Collin Schopp in Radio, Ethan Schopp in Dramatic Interp, Kristen Schuette in Oratory, Brian Henderson in Original Comedy, and Dylan Maris in Prose.  Next in Finalist in Poetry was Logan Robb and JV Finalists Walker Spaulding in Poetry and Informative, Dylan Maris in Original Comedy, and David Leimbach in Extemp.  Outstanding results for a very difficult tournament.  Come see the Olympia High School Speech team display their talents on Thursday, February 4 at 6:30 PM in the Auditorium.  It is the Meet the Speech Team night and we will also highlight this year’s seniors.  The Olympia team is gearing up for a very successful run into the IHSA state series so come out and see why these folks are “something to talk about!”
