Olympia Foundation for Education (OFFE) President DJ Martin presented the annual grant awards to Olympia teachers who were selected from those who submitted applications to the organization.  Mr. Martin thanked the teachers for their efforts to improve the educational climate for Olympia students.  He noted that these are not easy times but their perseverance and creativity were making a difference and making the Olympia community a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

The 2015-2016 recipients and their selected projects were:

  1. Ginger Spencer, Physical Education at OMS – “Fuel Your Body, Move Your Body”
  2. Bryce Hoffman, Agriculture at OHS – “Meat Rabbit Production”
  3. Chris Embry-Mohr, Science at OHS – “Engineering Learning Through STEM Days”
  4. Jarrod Rackauskas, Science at OHS – “From Field to Fuel”
  5. Stacy Durako and Amanda Gray, both 1st Grade at Olympia South Elementary – “Read Aloud Guided Reading”
  6. Laura Simonton, Teacher’s Aide and Garden Coordinator at Olympia South Elementary – “Native Illinois Prairie Bed”
  7. Joan Tracy, Early Childhood at Olympia South Elementary – “I Want To Swing Too”
